Centralize, Tilt, and Chop Technique for the Management of Rotating and Non-Rotating Hemi-Nuclei
9th Annual Global Video Contest

Cataract/Anterior Segment, Trauma
Dr. Rami Shasha uses a centralize, tilt, and chop technique to remove the remaining hemi-nucleus during cataract surgeries without the need for nucleus rotation. This technique is beneficial in scenarios where rotation is not possible (i.e., due to poor zonules) or in scenarios where rotation is not advised, as in the case of posterior polar cataracts, anterior capsule tears, and in scenarios of a suspected posterior capsular rupture site (i.e., from prior vitreoretinal surgery or anti-VEGF injections).
