• Multicolor Laser Photocoagulator
Volk Optical’s Photodynamic Therapy Laser Lens is designed to provide clear visualization of the choroidal neovascular membrane. It has a 1.5-times laser spot magnification and a 137-degree field of view. Spectronics has introduced the Spectroline Q-22 ultraviolet lamp, with a built-in, three-power, 2-by-4-inch magnifier lens with an 8-inch focal point to help in the identification of cataracts, corneal scratches and abrasions. Ophthalmic Surgical Microscope Leica Microsystems has introduced the Leica M844 F40 ophthalmic surgical microscope. It uses a direct halogen illumination system, and it allows preprogramming for each step of the surgical procedure. It also features a two-in-one display, along with a control unit and video monitor packaged as one on the floor stand. When the operator lifts the stand’s arm, the functions reset and the microscope is ready for the next patient. Katena Products has introduced the Moran Enhancement Spatula. Developed by Mark Moran, MD, the double-ended instrument is designed to aid in LASIK enhancements. The instrument features a modified Paton Spatula on one end. The Paton Spatula has a semisharp tip that is used to locate and elevate the edge of the previous flap. The other end of the instrument features a Fukasaku tip that is used to undermine, lift and retract the flap. After laser ablation, the instrument is used to reposit and smooth the flap. Volk Optical has expanded its line of Chalam lenses to include the Chalam Flat Self-Stabilizing Vitrectomy (SSV) Sterl Disposable Vitrectomy Lens. The lens enables surgeons to view the posterior segment of the retina. Wherever available, a vendor's Annual Meeting Chicago '05 booth number is listed.
