Join the Academy and AAOE in San Francisco for our fourth Joint Meeting with the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology (PAAO). The AAOE Program of the 2009 Joint Meeting will take place at the San Francisco Marriott from Oct. 24 to 27.

AAOE Program of the 2009 Joint Meeting Highlights:

Select courses of the AAOE program have been approved for a total of 25 continuing education units (CEUs) by the Joint commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO); 19 CEUs by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC); 97 COE CEUs by the National Board for the Certification of Ophthalmic Executives. All activities yield a 1:1 credit ratio hours spent to hours earned. View virtual Advance Program for a listing of approved courses.

The AAOE Program is developed around key competencies to provide our valued members with the most relevant and reliable information needed to manage a successful practice:

Member Registration Now Open
Although Academy and AAOE members attend the 2009 Joint Meeting for free, you still must register online, by fax or by mail. 

Modifying Your Registration
The ability to add additional events or meetings to your existing order is not available at this time. If you would like to add to or change your current order, you may:

  • Complete the fillable Preregistration Form (PDF 179K) and fax or mail to the Academy.
  • E-mail registration@aao.org.
  • Phone the Academy’s Customer Service department at 415.447.0320 (Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., Pacific time).

bullet  Important Login Information

The Academy upgraded its internal systems in April. As a result, you may be asked to change your login information for the Academy Web site. If so, you will need your new login information to book hotel rooms and register for the Joint Meeting. Are You Ready to Register? Follow these three easy steps to make sure:

  1. Log in to the Academy’s Web site now, and verify your username and password. If prompted, update your password (due to the system upgrade, some passwords no longer meet the security criteria necessary to protect your information). Can’t remember your password? Click the “forgot your password” link.
  2. Share your updated information with any office staff who might use your account to register on your behalf.  
  3. For questions or problems regarding your login, e-mail login_information@aao.org

July 15 Registration and housing open for nonmembers
Aug. 5 Early Registration deadline 
Aug. 26 Last day to register and have your badge and meeting materials mailed to you before the meeting. Last day to register by mail. Last day to cancel. 
Sept. 30 Last day to register online. After this day, you must register onsite.

AAOE's newest listserv, E-Meeting was created in order to facilitate communication between AAOE members attending the Joint Meeting. E-Meeting is an unmoderated e-mail discussion group aimed at promoting information exchange and connection between members attending the Joint Meeting in San Francisco.

Use E-Meeting to ask questions about the AAOE program, transportation, housing options (including finding a roommate to split the cost of housing), and entertainment activities to make your stay both productive and fun! Feel free to post inquires and information about restaurants, excursions to wine country as well as interesting neighborhoods to explore in San Francisco!
