Ophthalmic Community Seeks HIT Standards
The Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to accelerate adoption of interoperable HIT, is proposing to add eye care to its roadmap for certification. Medical Information Technology - The Academy is on the forefront of developing standards to facilitate the use of health information technology and electronic health records, including a standardized SNOMED ophthalmic terminology and DICOM ophthalmic imaging standards, led by the Chair of the Medical Information Technology Committee, Lloyd Hildebrand, MD. Under his direction, standards-setting activities have focused on several areas, including...
- Terminology: developing a standardized ophthalmic terminology within SNOMED;
- Imaging: developed standards within DICOM;
- Interoperability: created technical standards under IHE Eye Care
American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives (AAOE) AAOE is the practice management arm of the Academy providing information technology and other business management resources to help you manage a successful practice. EMR is also frequently discussed on the AAOE listservs E-Talk and E-Expert and periodically featured in AAOE News.
Annual Meeting
