The Academy is now accepting nominations for the 2014 Outstanding Humanitarian Service Award.
First awarded in 1992, the Outstanding Humanitarian Service Award recognizes Academy members for contributions in charitable activities, care of the indigent and community service performed above and beyond the typical duties of an ophthalmologist.
Selection of recipients is determined on the basis of factors including, but not limited to: intensity of service, continuity of service, length of service, need for the service, personal sacrifice of the ophthalmologist and the recommendations of the nominating organization and/or individuals identified in the nomination of the individual. A maximum of two recipients will be selected annually.
The presentation of the Outstanding Humanitarian Service Awards takes place during the Opening Ceremony of the Annual Meeting.
