Laurie G. Barber, MD
Dr. Barber was elected as an at-large member of the Board of Trustees in 2009. Currently, she is also chair of the Academy's Surgical Scope Fund Committee.
She received her bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University, graduating in the .05 percent, and her medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. She completed ophthalmology residency at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and mini-fellowships in ophthalmic echography at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami and in ocular pathology at Moorsfield Eye Hospital in London, England.
Dr. Barber is past president of the Arkansas Ophthalmological Society. She has also represented Arkansas as councilor for the Academy and served as chair of OPHTHPAC.
Dr. Barber is professor of ophthalmology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Jones Eye Institute. Her interests as a comprehensive ophthalmologist include clinical research of dry eye, blepharitis, conjunctivitis and allergy.
