Martin Wand, MD
Dr. Wand has served on the Academy's Board of Trustees since 2006; as Council vice chair from 2006 to 2007 and currently as Council chair. Among the many positions Dr. Wand has held with the Academy include the chairman of the National Glaucoma EyeCare Project and the American Glaucoma Society Councilor. He is the recipient of the Academy's Honor, Senior Honor and Secretariat Awards.
He received his medical degree from Yale and did his ophthalmology residency and glaucoma fellowship at Harvard. He specializes in glaucoma and diseases and surgery of the anterior segment and has been in private practice with a multi-specialty group in Hartford, Conn., for 30 years. He is a clinical professor of ophthalmology at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
Currently, Dr. Wand is a director of the American Board of Ophthalmology and former president of the New England Ophthalmological Society. He has spoken and published extensively on glaucoma.
