Tamara R. Fountain, MD
Dr. Fountain was elected as an at-large member of the Board of Trustees in 2005. She currently serves on the Executive Committee, Ethics Committee and EyeNet Advisory Board and is Chair of the Membership Advisory Committee. She is also on the Board of Directors of the Ophthalmic Mutual Insurance Company.
Dr. Fountain received a medical degree from Harvard Medical School. She completed a residency in ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute before pursuing fellowship training in oculoplastic surgery at Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California.
Outside of Academy service, Dr. Fountain is the Executive Secretary of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Past President of the Illinois Association of Ophthalmology. She has been involved with educational programming for Women in Ophthalmology and the Chicago Ophthalmological Society
She is the Section Head of Oculoplastics and Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Rush University in Chicago. She is in private practice on Chicago's North Shore and in addition to teaching, maintains clinical interests in congenital facial deformities, thyroid orbitopathy and management of facial trauma.
Dr. Fountain and her husband, Roy Jones, reside on Chicago's North Shore and are the proud parents of two teenagers, Natalie and Nicholas. In her spare time, Dr. Fountain likes to garden and dabble in photography. She has been a tennis enthusiast for many years but has shifted some of her athletic energy to her newest pursuit: golf. Her first season, she broke the head off her driver. Her third season, she broke 100. .
