Council Meetings
Registration is now available for the spring Council Meeting which will be held in conjunction with the 2015 Mid-Year Forum, April 17 to 18. Housing and meeting registration will be available until March 20. The registration fee is $200 until March 2. After March 2, the fee will be $250. Review the meeting schedule below.
  • Members of the Academy’s Council, an advisory body to the Board of Trustees, and leaders of ophthalmic state, subspecialty and specialized interest societies will meet to discuss issues of importance to membership and the profession.
  • Updates regarding various Academy activities and strategic issues affecting the profession will be provided, including key advocacy issues related to state and federal affairs.
  • The Council will also meet by region to discuss issues common to certain areas of the country.
  • Academy members are welcome and encouraged to attend this meeting.

4 to 6 p.m. Regional Meetings

Saturday, April 18
8  to 9:30 a.m. State Section meeting
8 to 9:30 a.m. Subspecialty/Specialized Interest Section meeting
9:30 to 9:45 a.m. Refreshment Break
9:45 to 11:30 a.m. Council Elections and Hearing on Council Advisory Recommendations
11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Council Closing Lunch with the Capitol Steps

The Council meets twice each year: in the fall, in conjunction with the Academy's annual meeting, and in the spring, in conjunction with the Academy's Mid-Year Forum.

Councilors are required to attend ALL Council meetings.

The fall Council meeting will be held in conjunction with the AAO 2015 in Las Vegas on Nov. 15.
