Evisceration with Implant: 4-Petal Technique, 3D Video

Evisceration is a commonly performed cosmetic procedure to prepare a painful blind eye for a custom ocular prosthesis. Several techniques of evisceration surgery have been described and the prime goal is to accommodate an appropriately large-sized orbital implant for adequate volume replacement. Blind eyes after trauma are often reduced in size, thereby making it difficult to accommodate a large-sized implant. The 4-petal technique of evisceration, which this video demonstrates, has several advantages over routine evisceration.
