Cornea/External Disease
Corneal tattooing is a known treatment for patients with corneal scars and peripheral iridotomies who suffer from unsightly cosmesis and glare. Traditionally, this has been done with a needle and periodic stabs in the cornea with the hope of achieving uniformity of color in the cornea. Unfortunately, this is not always successful, and it often has to be repeated. In this video, the authors describe a technique of applying the tattoo ink with the help of a lamellar flap created with the femtosecond laser.
