This is part of a series of videos that discusses how advances in technology, IOLs, phaco machines, femtolasers, hydrogel bandages, and indications make cataract surgery extremely similar to refractive surgery. The cataract surgeon must not only provide restoration of vision but also provide optimal vision quality; the ideal, and increasingly demanded, result of cataract surgery is plano correction. This requires accurate customization of IOL choice, obsessively accurate biometry, adoption of new technologies (microincision and premium IOLs: multifocal, toric, multifocal and toric, aspheric). The objective of this video is also designed to provide attendees with key information in applying a refractive surgery approach to exploiting recent technological, surgical, organizational, and patient management advances.
