Dr. Amar Agarwal treats a 4-month-old child with a large anterior staphyloma with a remarkable anterior segment transplantation instead of conventional enucleation. The outcome provided a good cosmetic result and the possibility of visual rehabilitation. Dr. Agarwal and his team created a biosynthetic graft of the entire anterior segment from a donor eye, including sclera, limbus and cornea. An aniridia IOL was included in the graft in anticipation that the iris would be lost when the staphyloma was removed. The graft was secured with 24 interrupted sutures.
