Dr. Nikoloz Labauri presents a case of a retinal pigment epithelium transplantation in a 65-year-old patient with wet AMD resistant to multiple anti-VEGF agents. After removal of the choroidal neovascular membrane, he carefully shaves the vitreous base. Following separation of the neurosensory layer from the RPE, a graft of healthy RPE is laser-coagulated and cut from the periphery. The graft is moved to the center, where it adheres to the underlying tissue under pressure from a perfluorocarbon tamponade. The neurosensory layer is reattached, and the perfluorocarbon is replaced with silicone oil.
