Dropped Nucleus in Femtosecond Cataract Surgery
By Sunir J. Garg, MD
Retina/Vitreous
Dr. Sunir Garg presents a case report of a patient who experienced posterior capsule rupture and a dropped nucleus during femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery. He performs a 3-port pars plana lensectomy to remove the lens which exhibited the laser-created segmentation pattern of a Rubik’s Cube. Using only the vitrectomy hand piece, Dr. Garg was able to remove all the pieces and the patient recovered with 20/20 vision.
