Richard Mackool, MD, shows a novel approach to IOL fixation using the optic. He planned to perform an optic capture technique to reposition the lens, but he discovers the superior haptic is missing. He uses microscissors to make 2 small incisions in the optic to create a narrow hinge which he then manipulates to fashion a pseudo-haptic that he can use to successfully perform an optic capture.
