Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness, and an alarming 95 percent of glaucoma cases are undiagnosed in the developing world. Most outreach work is centered around cataract blindness. Because of cost and several other limitations, glaucoma screening has been challenging. Here, the authors present a novel approach for glaucoma screening in an outreach eye camp using a hand-held slit lamp for assessing angle depth, Perkins tonometry for measuring IOP, visual field assessment using an iPad easy-field program and optic nerve head photography using a cost-effective, hand-held nonmydriatic fundus camera.
