Dr. Rohit Adyanthaya performs phacovitrectomy in a patient with a cataract and diabetic tractional retinal detachment. Addressing the cataract first, he uses a horizontal phaco chop technique and places the lens in the bag. He then trims the peripheral vitreous cone and gently lifts the membranes off the retina using a pick. A chandelier light assists in visualization, allowing for a gentle dissection of the membranes in a single sheet.
