People often are awed and report seeing beautiful colors and moving shapes during their laser cataract surgery. The optical process is light generated by a plasma, identical to the Aurora Borealis, one of the natural wonders of the world. The author has termed this intraocular aurora the "Aurora Ocularis." It has been visualized by setting up a modified Miyake chamber with a low-light video camera to view from a macular viewpoint what people see.
