Question:
I just received a report from the school nurse that my son failed his vision test because of bilateral stereopsis. What is this?
Answer:
Stereopsis is the ability of our eyes to see in 3 dimensions (3D). Failure of the stereopsis test may not mean anything serious, but could be a sign of amblyopia or lazy eye. Your son should see an ophthalmologist for a comprehensive eye examination.
