Why Sight Is Better Looking Out From Top of Eye?
MAR 16, 2015
Question:
Why would your sight be better when tucking your chin and looking out the top of your eyes? Looking at objects at a short distance (from 10 to 20 feet) I notice when I tuck my chin to my chest and look out of the top of my eyes the objects become clearer. When out of focus it is like a double image overlapped.
Answer:
You are creating a modified “pinhole” effect with this head position by blocking all but parallel rays of light from entering your eye. This makes vision clearer but does not help much in the real world and may indicate the need for some distance correcting glasses.
