Can a toric IOL be replaced with a simple monofocal IOL?

Answer:
Toric lenses (artificial intraocular lenses with astigmatism correction placed in the eye during cataract surgery) have absolutely no effect on any sport. Just like a pair of glasses with astigmatism correction, they will only make your vision of better and clearer quality. I expect something else is going on here—maybe what you have is a multifocal lens. Any lens can be replaced with a monofocal lens, but the surgery can be difficult and complications that can limit vision can occur so it is not to be taken lightly. Please speak to your surgeon about what is going on with your vision and ask for alternatives.
