    Examining a patient's eye and hearing about a vision problem led Robert F. Melendez, MD, to a diagnosis and a recommendation for a test that ultimately saved the patient's life. Ophthalmologists have the medical training to look into the eye and understand how what they see could indicate problems in overall health.

    Dr. Melendez is an ophthalmologist — an eye medical doctor and surgeon — and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
