Ophthalmologists who receive compounded drugs from outsourcers may be impacted by the Food and Drug Administration’s final guidance on these facilities. Under the Drug Quality and Security Act, outsourcing facilities may produce large volumes of compounded drugs for office use without patient-specific prescriptions.
