Michael Brennan Honored with 2015 EnergEYES Award
Academy international envoy and past president Michael Brennan, MD, received the 2015 EnergEYES award Nov. 16, during AAO 2015 in Las Vegas. Each year since 2009, the YO Committee has given the EnergEYES award to a senior ophthalmologist who "mentors young ophthalmologists, serves as a strong role model, and displays high energy that motivates them to get involved."
By custom, the EnergEYES award recipient remains a secret until announcement during the Senior Ophthalmologist Special Program and Reception at the annual meeting.
In an interview after the presentation, Dr. Brennan said, "I can't think of a better ending to the day. To be in the same club with [2014 winner] Bill Lloyd is a privilege." The two men have been friends since training; Dr. Lloyd was Dr. Brennan's first-year resident.
