FDA approves SLT laser

The FDA has approved Quantel Medical’s Solutis selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) glaucoma laser for clinical use.

The approval follows the expiration of a patent issued to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston which restricted Quantel Medical from marketing selective laser trabeculoplasty within the United States. Quantel has provided this technology to customers outside the United States since 2007.
