Why Report Completed CME?
Reporting Academy CME is a requirement for the International Ophthalmologist Education Award and the International Scholar Award. Other awards from the Academy are point-based. Learn more about acquiring points.

My Country or Society Offers Similar Credits to CME. Do They Apply for the International Awards?
Yes. Only half of the credits you acquire towards the International Ophthalmologist Education and International Scholar Awards must be Academy CME. Report credits from other societies online by following the steps listed above.

What is the Difference Between CME and Points?
CME: The Academy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The AAO offers AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credits™ for all activities listed within CME Central.

Points: Points recognize participation and contribution in Academy activities and relate specifically to the Academy Achievement and Senior Achievement Awards. Interested in adding points? You can translate Academy education materials. Contact international@aao.org for more information.

*To be designated for American Medical Association (AMA) Physician's Recognition Award (PRA) Category 1 Credit, educational activities must be planned by an accredited provider. Providers must assure that their activities:
