  • The Academy has a wide range of programs, services and information to help ophthalmologists from around the world advance their abilities and better serve their patients. Below are some of our most common partnership opportunities.

    For more information, contact international@aao.org.

    Patient Safety Resources

The Academy has teamed with ophthalmology subspecialties and other prominent national organizations around the world to collaborate on building a culture of patient safety.

Ophthalmic News & Education (ONE®) Network

The ONE Network is the Academy’s global platform for ophthalmic education, and is available globally through partnering societies and organizations. In low- and lower-middle-income countries, the AAO provides complimentary access to the ONE Network. The ONE Network contains videos covering all subspecialties, including videos from past AAO annual meetings, self-assessment questions, and much more.

    Academy Express

Academy Express is a clinical newsletter, e-mailed weekly to over 75,600 ophthalmologists worldwide. It offers brief summaries of news, highlights of peer-reviewed clinical journals, opinions from leading experts in the field and news from the AAO and partnering societies.

Through partnerships with national and supranational societies, Academy Express offers regionally-customized news for ophthalmologists in Pan-America, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East and Africa regions.

Academy Express is offered at no expense to all participating societies.

    OKAP® International

The Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program (OKAP) International exam is a 260-item validated multiple-choice exam that tests the knowledge of ophthalmology trainees. It is the same test given to U.S. residents in a prior year. Individuals or residency programs may take the exam.

    Meetings

The Academy frequently exhibits at and offers joint symposia at meetings in other countries. Visit regularly to learn more about specific Academy events at international meetings.

    Best of AAO®

Bring the Best of AAO to your country. This program can be licensed by your Society. The Academy provides you with 60 hours of AAO annual meeting and Subspecialty Day abstracts to review. Societies can select up to 10 hours of content relevant for your country’s ophthalmologists.

    Ethics

Read the Academy’s information on professional ethics and the standards for the ethical practice of ophthalmology.

    Leadership Development Program

Learn about this selective, year-long program, where participants attend four education sessions that address a variety of leadership, advocacy and association governance topics.

Basic and Clinical Science Course (BCSC)

Published for more than 60 years, the BCSC is the core curriculum in many ophthalmology training programs worldwide. It is a definitive source of up-to-date clinical information for physicians.

The AAO recognizes the financial challenges facing participants in many training programs, particularly those in developing nations. The AAO works with societies and training programs to make the BCSC available at a significant discount through bulk sales.

    Ophthalmic Society Database

The Academy provides a database for ophthalmologic societies throughout the world to manage and share contact, leadership and meeting information.

The Ophthalmic Society Database is currently being redesigned and will re-launch shortly. If you have a question about the database, would like to update the information listed for your society, or would like to be listed contact intl_society@aao.org.
