In this video from AAO 2015, Dr. Katherine Lee describes how her experience as a patient changed her mind about sharing medical records with patients. As a patient with access to her physician’s notes, she had time to absorb her test results and prepare for her next appointment. It was a comfort to her. She now dictates her notes during exams and shares a copy with the patient at the end of the appointment. While she stresses that access to records isn’t for everyone, she believes patients should have the choice.
