    Update on Dropless Cataract Surgery

By T. Hunter Newsom, MD; Sydney L. Tyson, MD, MPH
    AAO 2015
    Cataract/Anterior Segment

In this interview from AAO 2015, Dr. Sydney Tyson discusses his decision to offer his patients dropless cataract surgery. Instead of the standard post-cataract surgery drop regimen, Dr. Tyson uses Tri-Moxi-Vanc during cataract surgery. It’s a combination of triamcinolone acetonide, moxifloxacin hydrochloride and vancomycin, available in a single, injectable intraocular dose. Dropless surgery reduces issues with compliance and decreases overall costs, he says. Dr. Tyson also discusses possible complications and the likelihood of CMS reimbursement.
