Dr. I. Howard Fine to deliver inaugural talk at Academy’s 2005 Annual Meeting
SAN FRANCISCO – The American Academy of Ophthalmology announced the addition of the new Charles D. Kelman Lecture to the popular Cataract Spotlight session offered at its Annual Meeting.
The lecture series honors the late Dr. Kelman, known as the "Father of Phaco." I. Howard Fine, MD, of Eugene, Ore, will deliver the inaugural lecture in October in Chicago.
“Dr. Fine’s outstanding contributions to the field of cataract surgery and his innovative cataract surgery techniques and instrumentation made him the obvious choice to inaugurate the Charles D. Kelman lecture series,” said Edward J. Holland, MD, the Academy’s secretary for Annual Meeting. “Worldwide, patients and doctors both continue to benefit from Dr. Fine’s commitment to provide exceptional eye care, and his ability to instill that passion in his colleagues.”
Following in Dr. Fine’s footsteps, all future Charles D. Kelman guest lecturers will also be renowned surgeons recognized for their leadership in improving cataract surgery through education or innovation.
Dr. Fine’s lecture is scheduled for Oct. 17 at noon. Please check the Annual Meeting program for lecture topic and meeting location.
