Guarantee a Spot and Save Money by Registering Feb. 1 – Apr. 19 SAN FRANCISCO – Ophthalmologists preparing for the 2007 American Board of Ophthalmology Demonstration of Ophthalmic Cognitive Knowledge (DOCK) examination can save money and guarantee themselves a spot for the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s MOC Exam Review Course during early bird registration Feb. 1 - Apr. 19.
The preparation course will be held July 27-29 at the Westin O’Hare Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois.
Early registrants will pay $795 for two days, including the required Core Ophthalmic Knowledge module and one practice emphasis area (PEA), and $920 for three days, the core module and two PEAs.
After Apr. 19, the cost will be $875 and $1,000, respectively.
The interactive sessions are based on the Practicing Ophthalmologists Curriculum (POC), the same content that the American Board of Ophthalmology will use to develop the exam questions. The review course offers an objective, comprehensive and in-depth review of the most clinically relevant information in all PEAs.
“The interactive course sessions are designed to provide a practical and comprehensive review of clinically relevant ophthalmic knowledge and information for practicing ophthalmologists interested in improving the quality of patient care,” said Richard L. Abbott, MD, course director.
Last year, more than 130 ophthalmologists, including some who weren’t required to take the exam, attended the Academy’s three-day Exam Review Course in Chicago. Many indicated that it was helpful in preparing for the closed-book exam.
“The faculty and texts cut to the chase,” said Robert Strome, MD, of New York. “They provided insight on what would be necessary knowledge to pass DOCK exam for recertification.”
Course topics will include:
- Core Ophthalmic Knowledge (a required DOCK module)
- Cataract/Anterior Segment
- Comprehensive Ophthalmology
- Cornea/External Diseases
- Glaucoma
- Neuro-Ophthalmology and Orbit
- Oculoplastics and Orbit
- Pediatric Ophthalmology/Strabismus
- Uveitis
- Refractive Management/Intervention
- Retina/Vitreous
The DOCK Exam takes place in September 2007. For more information and updates, visit www.aao.org/moc
