    New ROP Risk Model

    ARVO 2016
Pediatric Ophth/Strabismus, Retina/Vitreous, Vascular Disease, Vitreoretinal Diseases

In this video from ARVO 2016, Dr. Leah Owen discusses the development of a new model to predict children at risk for ROP, which could potentially help prevent ROP in the NICU. Using a multivariate analysis, she found that early gestational age, but not low birth weight, was the biggest predictor of severe ROP. Other strong predictors of a severe phenotype include oxygen therapy, surgery, c-section birth and number of days on a ventilator.
