    Submit Your Transition Tips

The largest change to coding and reimbursement in over 30 years will take team work if we are to accurately and smoothly transition to ICD-10-CM. With this in mind, the American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives (AAOE) would like to recognize all who are willing to share their transition tips with their colleagues. Transition tips may be:

    • Superbills, route slips
    • Creating EHR favorites or libraries
    • Conversion of diagnosis codes most frequently reported
    • Restructuring of review of systems (ROS) as needed
    • Identifying Excludes1 Notes
    • Internal training
    • Linking CPT to ICD-10 accurately
    • Linking HCPCS E modifiers to ICD-10 “laterality” codes
    • Cleaning up current A/R
    • Loading new diagnosis codes into your system
    • Testing
    • Keeping the team motivated
    • What worked
    • What didn’t work

Please submit your transition tips to icd10@aao.org. Provide your name, practice name, city and state. Receipt of your tips signifies your permission to post to the ICD-10 website.

Those who share will be recognized in publications, on the web, and in Las Vegas 2015 as ICD-10-CM Conquering Heroes!
