Bilateral Chalazion Removal
Question: Our surgeon removed chalazia under anesthesia on the right and left upper lids. Should we submit two line items with –RT and –LT or one line with modifier -50?
Answer: Submit CPT code 67808 Excision of chalazion; under general anesthesia and/or requiring hospitalization, single or multiple, on one line with no additional modifier. The code includes one or more chalazia regardless of location.
