Billing for Hospice Patients
Question: If we see a Medicare Part B patient, who is now enrolled in hospice, for continuation of eye care, how should we submit the claim?
Answer: Append modifier –GW to all services as this indicates it is unrelated to hospice care. While J codes for durgs cannot have modifier -GW appended, the injection code will. If denied, appeal with documentation.
