Modifier for Injection in Global Period of Laser
Question: Is there a postop period for lasers and injections? We have a patient who had a laser March 1 and then an injection on March 25?
Answer: All surgical procedures have a global period of either zero, ten or 90 days of postoperative care. Medicaid payers also recognize a 60-day global period on many major procedures.
When the injection is performed during the global period, append modifier -58 and the eye modifier to the injection code.
