Testing services denied during inpatient stay
Question: Medicare Part B denied our testing procedures (CPT code 92083 Visual Field and CPT code 92250 Fundus photos) while the patient was an inpatient in the hospital. The office exam was paid, however. Should I bill these tests to the payer or the hospital?
Answer: These testing services include a technical and interpretation component. You will only be able to bill Medicare Part B for the interpretation and report, not the use of the equipment. You should bill these services as:
