In 2008, the EyeSmartâ„¢ public awareness campaign is expanding on its efforts to educate Americans about their risk factors for eye diseases with a new emphasis on eye injuries. In addition to announcing the results of the fifth-annual Eye Injury Snapshot, the injury phase also includes a new recommendation about protective eyewear.
