Allergan and Inspire Pharmaceuticals are partnering to copromote Elestat (epinastine HCl ophthalmic solution 0.05 percent) within the United States. Elestat was approved by the FDA in October to prevent itching associated with allergic conjunctivitis. It is a topical antihistamine with mast cell–stabilizing and anti-inflammatory activity, which simultaneously inhibits binding to H1 and H2, receptors and prevents recruitment and activation of proinflammatory mediators that provoke an allergic response.

Endure Medical has introduced its Endure MicroKeratoscope for conductive keratoplasty procedures.

The tool is designed to provide fixation and light-ring illumination during CK procedures and can attach directly to any microscope.

The microkeratoscope package includes a fixation/ light ring, fiberoptic light source with cable and mounting hardware.

Green Laser Photocoagulator
Nidek received FDA approval for commercial sale and marketing of its GYC-1000 Green Laser Photocoagulator in the United States.

The device delivers a solid-state green laser with 1.7 watts of energy. Designed to be compact and portable, the GYC-1000 weighs less than 15 pounds and plugs into any standard wall outlet. It is the smallest available green laser photocoagulator on the market.

The system also offers laser delivery options for slit lamps, indirects and endophotocoagulation.

Portable Pachymeter
The Pachmate, a new hand-held pachymeter available from DGH Technology, is 6.9 inches long and weighs 3.6 ounces. It is capable of storing and recalling up to 25 measurements bilaterally and displays a running average and standard deviation. The standard measurement range is from 200 to 1100 microns and the flap option range measures from 95 to 1100 µ, with accuracy of ±5 µ.

The Pachmate also can be used to calculate and display an IOP correction value.
Additional features include an adjustable probe angle.
