![]() A healthy 15-year-old male was referred for decreased vision of unknown duration in the right eye. Visual acuity was 20/400. Examination of the amblyopic right eye revealed a macula-off rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. A retinal hole was apparent temporal to the optic disc. A pars plana vitrectomy was performed with successful reattachment of the retina. Laser was placed around the hole, which, once flattened, sat on the inside wall of a localized staphyloma in the papillomacular bundle, and the area was tamponaded with C3F8 gas. Visual acuity was 20/400 and with pinhole to 20/200 at three months postoperatively. Blink is edited by Richard E. Hackel, MA, CRA, FOPS. |
