New Vision Enhancement System Bausch + Lomb has announced that its new combined vitrectomy and phacoemulsification system, the Stellaris PC (Procedural Choice) Vision Enhancement System, is available to retina surgeons in the United States. The Stellaris was previously introduced to cataract surgeons in 2007. It replaces the Millenium Microsurgical System in the company’s product line. The Stellaris PC is the only vitreoretinal surgical system that comes with a dual light source and surgeon- selected color filters to enhance the ability to see ocular tissue under various surgical conditions. The system allows surgeons a platform for the smallest incisions for both retinal and cataract surgeries. It is capable of 1.8 mm-MICS phacoemulsification and is a complement to Bausch + Lomb’s existing proprietary 25-gauge system of instruments for retinal surgery, along with standard 23- and 20-gauge instruments. The Stellaris PC also has lightweight, high-speed vitrectomy probes for conventional and transconjunctival vitrectomy. In addition, the system has a small footprint and wireless foot pedal with dual linear control for the operating room. Bausch + Lomb Camera System Update Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems has unveiled the Galilei G2, the new generation of its Galilei Dual Scheimpflug camera. A new high-performance computer system gives the Galilei G2 a boost in processing speed, computing power and data storage capacity. The optics have been redesigned in order to increase the quality of recorded data and reduce measurement time. Ziemer has also redesigned the system’s table for a smaller office footprint Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems AG
