Bausch + Lomb Storz has announced the U.S. release of its E2427 Whitman Double-Ended LRI Marker for limbal relaxing incision procedures.

This double-ended LRI marker is designed using chord lengths for treatment parameters rather than degrees. The two astigmatic dials cover a wide range of dioptric treatments with one end marked for 3-, 5- and 7-mm lengths and the other marked for 4-, 6- and 8-mm lengths. Both ends include corresponding raised marks on the underside of the dial.

Biometer for Cataract Surgery

Carl Zeiss Meditec has announced that its IOLMaster 500 has received marketing clearance from the FDA.

The IOLMaster 500 is the company’s newest biometer, and it is designed to calculate all necessary eye measurements for optimal lens selection in cataract surgery procedures.

The device features dual measurement capabilities, composite signal filtering and data integration with A-scan ultrasound biometry, thereby increasing the percentage of measurable eyes, even for patients who have dense cataracts.

Anti-Inflammatory and Dry Eye Medications

Alcon has announced the launch of two new products.

TobraDex ST (tobramycin/dexamethasone ophthalmic suspension) 0.3/0.05 percent is indicated for steroid-responsive inflammatory ocular conditions for which a corticosteroid is indicated and where bacterial infection or risk for infection exists. TobraDex ST is formulated to enhance bioavailability to targeted tissues for conditions such as acute blepharitis and other inflammatory conditions where an infection may also exist.

Systane Balance Lubricant Eye Drops contains HP-Guar, borate, sorbitol, propylene glycol and Alcon’s LipiTech System, an emulsion technology of mineral oil and an anionic phospholipid. Systane Balance is designed to restore the natural lipid layer and tear film to allow for relief of dry eye symptoms.
