Bruce E. Spivey, MD, Educational Trust Fund
The Bruce E. Spivey, MD, Educational Trust Fund was established in 1992 in honor of Dr. Spivey and his many contributions to ophthalmology and the Academy. As an endowed fund within the Academy Foundation, only the income from the principle may be used.
The purpose of the Spivey Educational Trust Fund is to provide research and development funding for improving advanced multimedia clinical education products used by residents and practicing ophthalmologists. The Academy and its foundation are grateful to the many generous donors committed to advancing lifelong ophthalmic education by making gifts to the fund.
Charles D. Kelman, MD, Cataract Education Fund
The Charles D. Kelman, MD, Cataract Education Fund was established in 2005 in honor of Dr. Kelman and his many contributions to cataract surgery. The purpose of the Kelman Cataract Education Fund is to support the many Academy activities that advance lifelong ophthalmic education in cataract surgery.
ETF/Retina Research Foundation
The ETF/Retina Research Foundation fund was established in 1992 in recognition of the generous $1,000,000 gift made by the Retina Research Foundation to the Bruce E. Spivey, MD, Educational Trust Fund (see above).
The purpose of the fund is to support Academy educational programs that address diseases of ophthalmology, including retina-related education. The Academy and its foundation are grateful to the Retina Research Foundation for its generous support and commitment to advancing lifelong ophthalmic education. This gift was made in memory of Laura I. Cannon, Burt L. Risly and Fred L. and Edna H. Schlichting.
