Pupils

The pupil exam requires careful technique to assess these features:

  1. The size of the pupils in dim illumination. (You are looking for a difference in pupil size, called anisocoria.)

  2. The reactions of the pupils to direct light. (You are looking for a diminished constriction.)

  3. The reactions of the pupils to a swinging light. (You are looking for a relative afferent pupil defect.)

Here is how to do pupil testing.
