As you are probably aware, the American Academy of Ophthalmology launched the EyeSmartTM Campaign this past July. This new initiative is intended to raise public awareness about eye diseases and their risk factors, as well as the role ophthalmologists play in treating illness and injury.
The media did its part with more than 3,000 EyeSmart stories, many of them picking up on the new recommendation for a baseline eye disease screening at age 40 for adults with no risk factors for eye disease. Now it is your turn. We are counting on Academy members to sustain the campaign’s momentum by getting involved.
