Amazing Benefit of the ONE Network: Online Journals

MoreIssue Index | Related Articles

The benefits of the Ophthalmic News and Education (ONE®) Network are numerous. But one of our favorites is the free access to journals online.

Journals Available Online
If you compare the cost of purchasing each individual journal to the cost of an annual membership to the Academy, you will quickly see the benefits of being an Academy member. Editor's note: Cost information accurate as of July 2008.

Annual Subscription Costs (Print Edition)

U.S.

International

Ophthalmology

$135

$229

American Journal of Ophthalmology

$279

British Journal of Ophthalmology

$1,075

But the reduced cost of journals is just the start. Unlike the physical paper versions of the journals, with online availability, you can access the journals anywhere at any time. You also don’t have to make room in your home or office for the hard copy of the journals. But, best of all is the search capability.

No more searching through stack after stack of journals, looking for the specific page that one great study was one. Now, with online journal access, you simply plug in the keywords of the study you are looking for and it will search the journals for the specific study. Now THAT is a benefit!

How to Find the Journals Online

  1. Type in the Academy’s website address (www.aao.org). We recommend saving this to your toolbar as a bookmark for easier access on your next visit.
  2. Select the “ONE Network” tab.
  3. Within the ONE, select the “Journals” tab. Journals displayed will include:
    • Ophthalmology
    • American Journal of Ophthalmology
    • Survey of Ophthalmology
    • Ophthalmology Clinics of North America
    • British Journal of Ophthalmology

Conclusion
The ONE Network will ultimately be the place for individuals to identify products, news and educational materials to help all ophthalmologists provide better care to our patients. Until that time, we hope that you take advantage of accessing online journals via the ONE Network.
