AAOE Program Offers Comprehensive Course Selection for YOs

At the Joint Meeting in Atlanta, the American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives (AAOE) will be presenting a number of CME-bearing courses to help young ophthalmologists (YOs) navigate the complexities of practice management. Whether you are still in training or have already entered practice, the comprehensive program will give you the information you need to be successful in your career.

Wide Array of Courses and Topics
The AAOE courses are a great opportunity to learn targeted, helpful information on a wide variety of topics such as coding and business skills. This year, AAOE is offering 14 courses that are specifically focused on the needs of young ophthalmologists. A few of these include:

Sunday, Nov. 9

  • 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. – What Every Ophthalmologist Should Know About Strategic Planning (#269), taught by Greg Brinton, MD; Derek Preece, MBA

Monday, Nov. 10

  • 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. – Anatomy of a Partnership Deal (#340), taught by by Jeffrey Sansweet, JD
  • 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Acquiring Practices: Buying Strangers, Friends & Enemies (#394), taught by Daniel Bernick, JD
  • 3:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. – Starting Out on the Right Foot - A Guide for the Young Ophthalmologist (#445), taught by Donna Howell, JD

Tuesday, Nov. 11

  • 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. – Management Techniques to Maximize Clinical & Practice Quality (#535), taught by Chandak Ghosh, MD
  • 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Building Your Practice by Building the Right Team (#590), taught by William Ehlers, MD
  • 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. – Financial Planning for Ophthalmologists: Increase Your Net Worth (#598), taught by Gary Weinstein, MD
  • 12:45 p.m. 1:45 p.m. – Anatomy of Your First Employment Agreement (#596), taught by Jeffrey Sansweet, JD

Youth has Privileges
AAOE membership is free for all YOs during training through your first year of practice. If you have been in practice for more than a year, don’t despair. You can sign up during the Joint Meeting for just $99.

As you can imagine, space for these courses fills up quickly, so be sure to register early to ensure your place. You can register online by first registering for meeting, then adding the AAOE courses you want your cart. Onsite registration is also available, but some courses may be fully booked by then.
