  • 4 Pearls from APAO 2015

APAO 2015 in Guangzhou, China, concluded earlier this month, but for some attendees, the most important part has just begun: when they share the meeting's most valuable insights with their colleagues. In these two video interviews with Grace Sun, MD, young ophthalmologists report on the pearls they took home to peers.

Ophthalmologist S.K. Fang, MBBS, of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, said he was struck by the advice on fellowship programs, leadership development and ways to present research. Dr. Fang chairs the young ophthalmologist standing committee of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology.

For ophthalmologist Marie Louise Roed Rasmussen, MD, PhD, of Denmark, it was the leadership resources that struck her. “I think there’s a huge need for it,” she said of programs like the Academy's Leadership Development Program. Dr. Rasmussen serves on the European Society of Ophthalmology's young ophthalmologist committee.
