    Joining a practice can be the beginning of a multi-decade relationship, but how do you go about finding the best fit? Academy Past President Ruth D. Williams, MD, and others discuss why fit can be more important than finances and how it can take a few attempts — and a few career changes — to find the job that’s right for you..

    Dr. Williams also shared negotation tips for female ophthalmologists, who often make less than male peers. During remarks at the AAO 2015 YO Program, Dr. Williams said women should demand fair and equitable pay — a full dollar, not 75 cents on the dollar. She also discussed why joining a practice is a lot like a marriage.
